Advantages of incorporating NFTs into your practice

Experiment with new mediums

NFTs provide an exciting opportunity to experiment with new mediums. Perhaps you’re a photographer interested in discovering AI, maybe you’re a painter keen to manipulate works digitally, or you might be a developer looking to make your first piece of long form generative art. From digital illustration, photography, animation, AI, music, poetry, 3D modeling and more, there are a wide range of techniques and mediums to explore.

Find new collectors

The NFT space has given rise to a whole new generation of collectors from around the world, many of whom had never collected before or had the chance to discover artists from different backgrounds and experiences. The importance of social platforms like Twitter and Discord for the NFT community has also broken down the boundaries that have traditionally existed between artists and their champions. Many creators on Tezos have built meaningful relationships with their collectors through DMs, discord servers and meetups, engaging in a completely revolutionary network of creative exchange.

Embrace collaboration

Part of the beauty of digital technology has always been in its collaborative possibilities and that’s all the more true today with the rise of web3. Creating art collaboratively, beyond geographical limitations, can be a rewarding process that can lead to otherwise unimaginable outcomes. Many Tezos marketplaces including fx(hash), objkt and others encourage collaboration, making it easy to include two or more creators who can jointly mint the project. More recently, platforms have built tools to enable collectors to co-define creative outputs with artists they admire.

Fundraise for charitable causes

Over the years, the Tezos community of creators and collectors have come together many times to fundraise for causes they care about. In September 2022, Teia launched #SavePakistan, a Tezos Art Flood Relief Fundraiser. More recently, in February 2023, a group of Tezos creators raised over $100,000 USD in just a few days after launching the #tezquakeaid initiative to help victims of the Turkey and Syria earthquake. Some creators mint entire collections with charitable royalties included. To ensure artists and collectors are able to give ongoing support to causes they care about, the Teia marketplace lets collectors easily view NFTs with 50% of the sale price going to a charitable cause and fx(hash) facilitates creators adding a charity as a royalty recipient.

Join a vibrant community

The Tezos art community started as a grassroots movement, driven by the community for the community. It first took off in March 2021, with the launch of Hic et Nunc (now continued as Teia), created by Rafael Lima, a Brazilian social scientist. The marketplaces and platforms building on Tezos have expanded and developed significantly since then but the community still forms the bedrock of the art landscape on Tezos. Motivated by a love for art, creators, collectors and curators in the Tezos community are recognized as some of the most engaged and supportive across blockchain ecosystems.
